Word Count Limits - LitMag (print): 15,000 words; Litmag Online: 4,000 words
What We Pay - LitMag Print: Upon acceptance, we pay $300 for fiction and nonfiction (5,000+ words); $150 for fiction and nonfiction (2,500-4,999 words); $100 for a short short (flash); $100 for a poem or group of short poems. LitMag Online: Upon acceptance, we pay $125.. LitMag acquires First English-language print and electronic rights. Copyright reverts to the author upon publication.

General Guidelines
Please submit only once in each category and wait until you receive our response before submitting again. We accept simultaneous submissions, but please withdraw your submission immediately via Submittable. if another publication beats us to your work. We try to respond to submissions within four months, but please understand that the volume of submissions may require us to take longer.

First Prize: $1,500 + publication in LitMag + agency review by  Amy Bishop-Wycisk of Trellis Literary Management, Emily Wescott of CAA,  Hailey Hedemann of William Morris Endeavor, Kelsey Day of Aragi, PJ Mark of Janklow & Nesbit, and Rayhane Sanders of Massie & McQuilken.

Finalists: Three finalists will receive $100 each.  All finalists will be considered for possible agency review and publication.  Deadline: September 30, 2024

Contest Fee: $18

Submission Guidelines: Entries must be 1 to 3 poems. Please use 12pt type, preferably Times New Roman, and submit your poems in one signle Word document. Only previously unpublished poems are eligible. Writers may submit multiple entries, each of which requires a separate submission fee. Submissions through Submittable only.  Notification: The contest will be judged by the editors of the magazine. The winning short stories and finalists will be announced publicly on our Web site and social media as well as by email to all contestants in January 2025.
